While in command of the unit I oversaw implementation, organization, training and monitoring of the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) concept in Alabama. I served as an instructor at the Alabama Criminal Justice Training Center in Basic Accident Investigation, Traffic Homicide Investigation and Radar Enforcement. My primary areas of instruction included speed analysis, recognition and interpretation of roadway evidence, blood seizure, occupant kinematics and case studies. In 1996 I opened the Traffic Homicide Course to outside agencies. Trained more than 525 law enforcement officers in accident investigation and traffic homicide investigation. QUALIFICATIONS

I served 25 years with the Alabama State Troopers, nine years as a patrol officer and fifteen years as a supervisor.  A large portion of my career obviously involved a great deal of training and experience in the area of accident investigation.  I personally investigated over 1,500 traffic accidents and, as a supervisor, reviewed all Traffic Homicide Reports and Fatal Crash Reports in my assigned area.   I pursued advanced training both within and outside the Department in order to enhance my skills and abilities.  I have testified as an expert witness in accident reconstruction for the State of Alabama in both prosecutions of vehicular homicide and assault cases, as well as civil litigation cases.  I oversaw Post and District level training, related to Traffic Homicide.  I assisted with on-scene mapping, technical reconstruction, and served on the North Alabama Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).  I have assisted in accident investigation training within the Department and to outside agencies.  Upon retirement from the Troopers, in 2004, I worked three years as a Legal Investigator, concentrating primarily on Accident Investigation, Reconstruction, and Product Liability Cases.  These investigations involved mapping, photographing and diagramming accident scene, obtaining witnesses statements, and conducting vehicle examinations.  Typical cases included, wrongful death, SUV rollover, fuel fed fires, and occupant/ biomechanical cases.
